TELLING TIME 時間の言い方

HOME>Word Master®>TELLING TIME 時間の言い方

Welcome back from the three-day weekend! We expect you are well rested and ready to begin your four-day work week. The weekend will be here again before you can say, "Berlitz WordMaster!"

The easiest way to say what time it is is to say the hour followed by the number of minutes after the hour, as in eleven fifteen (= 11:15), five thirty (= 5:30), and one fifty-five (= 1:55).

(Be careful: For from 1 to 9 minutes after the hour, we put "o" -- pronounced like the letter "o" -- between the hour and the minutes, as in ten o two (= 10:02).

時間の1番簡単な言い方は、何時何分の順に言うことです。例:eleven fifteen (= 11:15), five thirty (= 5:30), one fifty-five (= 1:55).

注意: 1分過ぎから9分過ぎまでは、~時と分の間に"o"を入れます。 "o"はアルファベットを読むときと同じように「オー」と発音します。例:ten o two(= 10:02)

1. a: What time is it?
   b: It's seven forty-five (= 7:45).

2. a: Excuse me, do you have the time?
   b: Yes, it's three o five (= 3:05).

3. The train leaves at ten o seven (= 10:07). We'd better hurry.
It's "time" to say goodbye. Goodbye!
