Welcome, welcome! We're thrilled to be starting another week of WordMaster with you. We've decided to continue with last week's theme and introduce you to more words and expressions used to talk about maintaining a clean, attractive appearance. It's more English you're sure to use often, so read it carefully, practice, and ... enjoy!
- To put on makeup is to put colored creams, powders, paints, etc. - such as lipstick, foundation, and mascara - on your face to make it more attractive.
To take off makeup is to remove it by washing or wiping it off. - put on makeup は、色のついたクリームやパウダー（口紅、ファンデーション、マスカラ、など）をつけて、顔をより美しく見せようとすること、つまり、化粧をするという意味です。
take off makeup は、洗ったりふいたりして化粧を落とす、という意味です。
- a: Jacky, if you don't hurry up, we're going to be late for the concert.
b: Just give me five more minutes to put on my makeup, then we can go. - Recently I see a lot of women putting on their makeup on the train. I never used to see that in Japan before.
- a: Do you use soap to take off makeup?
b: I used to, but it always made my skin dry. So now I use cold cream instead.
