Today's LessonCATEGORY: Problem Vocabulary
PLANET   惑星

Explanation

  • A planet  is one of the nine large round objects (including the earth) that move around the sun, or any such object that moves around a star.

The planets  most easily seen at night are:

Venus (the brightest star-like object in the sky and only seen in the evening or in the morning; second planet from the sun)

Mars (the red planet; 4th from the sun)

Jupiter (the largest planet; 5th from the sun)

Saturn (the planet best known for its beautiful rings; 6th from the sun)

    Be careful:
We often use the expression "THE planet"  (singular) to talk about the earth.
