Explanation

  • To say that a car or engine is running means that it is operating.
  • a car is running は、車が動いているという意味です。an engine is running(エンジンが動いている)と言うこともできます。

examples

  1. a: How's your car running these days?
    b: It's running well. I had the engine tuned last month.
  2. Most cars run badly in very hot or very cold weather.
  3. (a store employee to a customer)
    Please don't leave your engine running while you're in the store.
