Hi! Well, the long three-day weekend is over, and it's back to work for many of us. When was the last time you asked yourself WHY you're working? Toward what end? Do you have a family to support? Perhaps you want a promotion or a new house. Maybe you want to rise to the top of your field and taste fame or riches. Whatever you're aiming for, you can work better and smarter if you know exactly what it is you want!

Explanation

  • A goal is something that you hope to do successfully.
  • goal は、成し遂げようとしている事柄、つまり目標という意味です。

examples

  1. Our goal is to be the #1 manufacturer of televisions in Japan.
  2. One thing most successful people have in common is well-defined goals. Without these, it's hard to stay motivated.
  3. All her life Mika had wanted to be a famous writer, but after she achieved her goal she found it hard to push herself anymore.
  4. If my wife and I reach our goal of saving $50,000 by the end of the year, we'll be living in our first house by the spring.
