- When you make a killing you win, earn, or somehow obtain a lot of money in a short period of time, usually with little effort.
- make a killing は、あっという間に高額賞金を当てたり大金を稼いだりする、という意味です。ほとんど努力せずに大金を手に入れた状況をさすのが一般的です。
- Mr. Shimizu invested a lot of money in the IT industry in the early ‘90s. He made a killing when he sold his stock a few years later with stock prices at their peak.
- Uni-Telemobile Corporation has made a killing in cellular phone sales because they got in on the ground floor of the cellular phone boom.
