- A person or place is swamped (with work, phone calls, etc.) if there is too much to handle easily.
- swamped with work、swamped with phone calls などと言ったら、容易に処理できないほどの仕事や電話が殺到して、とても忙しい状態にあるという意味です。
- a: Let's go out for a drink.
b: I can't - I'm swamped! I have three reports and a presentation to finish. - We're short-staffed and it's our peak season, so we're swamped with work.
- We've been swamped with calls about the new product line. This could be our biggest year ever.
- The whole city has lost power, and the fire department and police are swamped with emergencies.
