Greetings to all students and lovers of the English language on this fine Monday! This week we'll be looking at a subject that's on the minds of many of you: language skills and test scores. The next time someone asks you “How's your English?” or “How did you do on the test?”, try to use some of the expressions you'll learn this week!

Explanation

  • To prepare something or someone is to get them ready for something that will happen in the future.
  • prepare とは、将来起こることのために、ものや人の用意を整える、という意味です。

examples

  1. a: Have you prepared for the test?
    b: Yes. I was up until midnight studying for it.
  2. I've packed canned food and snacks, bottled water, a small radio, a flashlight, and a first-aid kit. I want to be prepared for the next big earthquake.
  3. A “preparatory school” or “prep school” is a private school that prepares students to enter college.
