A lot of our students are fond of using the expression “brush up” to talk about improving their English. But how about using today's expression for a change?
WORK ON (= make better) ~に励む、~に取り組む
- To work on a skill or other aspect of yourself is to spend time trying to make it better.
- work on とは、自分のもつ技術やほかの能力を向上させるために時間を費やす、つまり、励む、何かに取り組む、という意味です。
- I can read English pretty well, but I need to work on my listening comprehension and speaking.
- Tim has been working on his French so that he can get a job in Paris.
- I wish Jennifer's kids would work on their manners a little.
- My boss should really work on getting more organized.
