Explanation

  • To attach a file to an e-mail is to connect it to the e-mail.

    An attachment is a file attached to an e-mail.

    To enclose something with a letter (or document, etc.) sent by post is to put it in the same envelope or parcel as the letter.
  • Eメールについて attach を用いると、Eメールにファイルをつけて送る、つまり、添付する、という意味です。

    attachment は、Eメールに添付されたファイルのことです。

    手紙(または書類など)について enclose を用いると、手紙や書類などと同じ封筒あるいは包みの中に何かを一緒に入れて郵送する、つまり、同封する、という意味です。

  1. (an e-mail to the HR department)
    I'm writing in response to the advertisement on your Web site for the position of computer engineer. I have attached a copy of my resume.
  2. Should I put the agenda in the body of the message, or should I send it as an attachment?
