  • To test the water or waters is to find out more about something by doing a survey, trying it first on a smaller scale, etc. before deciding whether or not to do it.
  • test the water(s) とは、何かをするかどうか決断する前に、調査をしたり、まず小規模に試してみたりすることによってよりよく知る、つまり試してみるという意味です。
