2007.01.18(Review of 2001.01.18 edition)
Guess who's back! That's right - it's the WordMaster, bringing you the Thursday edition!
CONSIDER 考える、熟考する
- To consider something is to think about it, especially in a formal situation or when the subject is important.
Be Careful! Although we say “think ABOUT something”, we do NOT say “consider ABOUT something”. - consider は、何かについて考える、という意味です。特に、公式な状況や、検討の対象が重要であるときに使います。
注意:think ABOUT something という表現はありますが、consider ABOUT something とは言いません。
- Of course I want to marry Jill, but she says she won't even consider marriage until I graduate.
- (information for students applying to a university)
Please give us 8 to 10 weeks to consider your application. - a: Where do you think Nathan and I should go on our honeymoon?
b: Have you considered going on a cruise? - Have you ever considered what it would be like to live without electricity?
We hope you'll consider coming back again tomorrow for the Friday edition. You'll be glad you did!
