Hello, and welcome to the Friday WordMaster, where we serve our English piping hot! What's today's special? Well, we'll have you know it's a sizzler!
FRYING PAN / SKILLET フライパン
- A frying pan or skillet is a flat, shallow, usually metal container with a long handle used for frying food on a stove.
Be Careful! The expression “fry pan”, like the Japanese フライパン, is less common than frying pan.
- (part of a recipe)
Saute the chicken breasts in a large frying pan until golden brown, add the cream and white wine, cover and cook over low heat for ten minutes. - You'd better let the frying pan soak in water for a little while, otherwise it's going to be hard to clean.
- (to a salesperson in a department store)
I'm looking for a really good non-stick skillet. - My mother always said there's nothing better for cooking pancakes than a cast-iron skillet.
Enjoy “setsubun” tomorrow and think happy spring thoughts!
