GET (THE PHONE/THE DOOR)
電話に出る/(来客の)応対に出る
- To get the phone or get the door is to answer it when you hear a ring, knock, etc.
- get the phone や get the door は、電話のベルやドアのノックの音を聞いてそれに応える、つまり、電話や来客の応対に出ることです。
- a: How did you break your arm?
b: I was running to get the phone and fell down the stairs. - (the phone rings)
I'll get it. - (a woman shouting to her daughter from the shower)
Can you get the door, Jane? And don't forget to ask who it is before opening it. - (a man watching baseball, to his wife as the doorbell rings)
Could you get that for me, honey? I don't want to miss the end of the game.
We'll give you another ring tomorrow!
