2007.08.27(Review of 2001.03.09 edition)
Greetings!
This week's theme is simple and always relevant - “Giving Thanks”!
THANK YOU FOR (the card/coming)
- We can say “thank you” to someone FOR something - for example, “Thank you for the card” - or FOR DOING something - for example, “Thank you for coming.”
Be Careful! When saying “thank you” to someone for doing something, we usually do NOT use “your” before the “-ing” form of the verb; for example, we do NOT say, “Thank you for YOUR coming.”
Thank you for YOUR coming. ではなく、Thank you for coming.
- Thank you for the flowers. They were a nice surprise.
- Thank you for your hospitality. We enjoyed our stay with you so much.
- Thank you for letting me use the car.
- Thank you for helping me. I couldn't have done it without you.
Thank you for joining us today!
