2007.11.29(Review of 2003.03.14 edition)
It's great to be with you again! We hope you are well.
Today's WordMaster concerns a humble-looking device that nonetheless has good reason to be proud!
- An outlet or electrical outlet is a device, usually in a wall, with small holes for connecting equipment to the power supply.
Be Careful! The word “consent” is NOT used like the Japanese コンセント to mean outlet.
- a: I brought my boombox so we can listen to music while we work. Where's the outlet?
b: It's behind the desk. - You shouldn't use the same outlet for both the space heater and the toaster oven. It's dangerous!
- We've put covers on all the electrical outlets so that our baby can't stick her fingers into the holes.
We'll be waiting for you here again tomorrow!
