If a company thinks of most everyone as a potential customer, then here's the marketing strategy it's likely to employ!
MASS MARKET
- The mass market (noun) is the general public seen as a target group for a product. Products aimed at the mass market are sold to the widest range of people, rather than to a more limited group such as the very rich, people with unusual hobbies, or the government.
To mass-market (verb) a product is to market it (= offer it for sale and advertise it) to the general public.
- We only sell premium vehicles, most of which cost 5 to 10 times what you'd pay for a car aimed at the mass market.
- Well-known celebrities who appeal strongly to the mass market are frequently used for high-profile advertising campaigns.
- Many small businesses that don't have the advertising budget to mass-market their products do well by focusing on niche markets instead.
See you tomorrow!
