2008.07.07
Greetings!
Flying anywhere this summer? Would you like to make more sense of the in-flight announcements you'll hear en route? Great, because we're going to fly along with you this week and tell you what all those mumbling pilots and fast-talking flight attendants are saying. So kick back and ENJOY the flight for a change!
CARRY-ON LUGGAGE vs. CHECK-IN LUGGAGE
機内持ち込み手荷物 VS. 預ける手荷物
- Carry-on luggage is the (usually smaller) baggage that passengers take with them when they board a plane.
Check-in luggage is the (usually larger) baggage that passengers give to the ticket agent (when they check in) to put under the plane. - carry-on luggage とは、乗客が飛行機に乗るときに持ち込む(通常、小さめの)荷物のことです。
check-in luggage とは、乗客が(チェックインするときに)係員に預けて、飛行機に積み込む(通常、大きめの)荷物のことです。
- (airline baggage information)
Passengers may take one piece of carry-on luggage on board the aircraft, as well as a purse, small handbag, briefcase, or laptop computer. - (getting ready for a trip)
They won't let you take that bottle of shampoo in your carry-on luggage. Pack it in your suitcase. - I'm glad we don't have any check-in luggage, so we won't have to spend time waiting at the baggage carousel.
Cheers!
