Explanation

  • Here are some useful expressions to use when you don't understand what a person is saying:
    相手が言っていることを理解できないときに使う、便利な表現をいくつかあげてみましょう。

    Would you mind saying that again?
    もう一度言っていただけますか。

    Would you mind speaking more slowly?
    もう少しゆっくり話していただけますか。

    What does (that) mean? *
    (それ)はどういう意味ですか。

    I'm sorry, but I don't understand.
    すみませんが、分かりません。

    * The word “that” (in parentheses) can be replaced with the word or phrase you don't understand.
    カッコ内の that は、分からない言葉やフレーズに置き換えることができます。
