Explanation

  • To remind someone is to help them remember something they may have forgotten.
  • remind とは、人が忘れてしまったかもしれない何かを思い出させる、という意味です。

  1. a: It's 3:30. Remember, you have a dentist's appointment at 4:00.
    b: Oh, that's right! Thanks for reminding me.
  2. (upon arriving overseas on a business trip)
    Could you remind me to call my wife later? If I forget to let her know I arrived safely, she'll worry.
  3. (a clerk in the stockroom)
    Would you please remind your supervisor that you need to show me written permission in order to check out equipment?
  4. (e-mail to all customers of an online bookstore)
    We wanted to remind you that all books will be discounted 10% in February, and shipping is free!
