HEAD START
- A head start is something that gives you a better chance than other people of succeeding or winning in a competition. For example, if you are given a head start in a race, you are allowed to begin the race sooner than the other runners or from a position that is closer to the finish line.
- We taught both of our children to read when they were just 3 years old. We wanted to give them a head start in school.

I lived in the United States for two years when I was little, so I have a big head start over the other kids in my English class. - (after racing a friend)

b: No fair - you had a head start! - I know it's still January, but it never hurts to get a head start on planning for Golden Week. Hotels fill up so fast.
