Greetings!

When you consider how often we talk about our families, especially when meeting someone new, you realize how there's hardly a more practical theme than that we're taking up from today. This week, the WordMaster is in a family way!

I HAVE TWO BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER.

Explanation

  • A natural way to ask someone about the size of the family they grew up in is “Do you have any brothers or sisters?

A natural way to answer is to say, for example, “I have two brothers and one sister.

Be Careful! When talking about the size of your family in English, it's common just to count brothers and sisters. For example, when you might say うちは5人家族です in Japanese, you would say “I have one brother and one sister.” in English.
Do you have any brothers or sisters?

I have two brothers and one sister.

I have one brother and one sister.

I HAVE TWO BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER.
