Explanation

  • To get a life is to change your life so that it becomes fuller, more interesting, or more meaningful.

    If someone tells you that you need to get out more, they think you should go out and socialize (= spend time with other people for pleasure) more often.
  • get a life は、生き方を変えて、もっと充実した、面白い、または有意義な人生にする、という意味です。

    you need to get out more と言うと、もっと外に出て人と交際する(他の人と楽しんで過ごす)べきだ、という意味になります。
