2010.02.16
Last week, we gave you the straight scoop on yet another Japanese-English word. In today's session, we'll be discussing some more astounding research into this always-fascinating field!
- A seminar is a meeting (or small college class) where people study, train, or exchange ideas with an expert (or teacher).
Be Careful! The expression “zemi” (ゼミ) is Japanese-English and is NOT used to mean seminar.
- Max Berlitz is going to be in town tomorrow. He's giving a seminar on recent developments in foreign language instruction.
- Her management seminars are always sold out months in advance.
- She's taking courses in Japanese and Japanese cinema, as well as a seminar in Chinese literature.
- My classes in graduate school are a lot different than the classes I took as an undergraduate. First of all, most of them are in small seminar rooms instead of large lecture halls.
Enjoy the day!
