If you were with us yesterday, then you know that you don't always need a ship in order to ship something. Keep that in mind as you read today's edition.
SHIPMENT / SHIPPING 発送、積み荷、発送品/発送、送料
- Shipment and shipping both refer to the act of sending something by air, sea, train, or truck.
A shipment is also a group of goods that are shipped together.
Shipping can also mean the cost of sending something. - shipment、shipping は、いずれも航空便、船便、列車、トラックなどで、何かを送る行為をさします。
shipment には、同時に発送される、ひとまとまりの品物、つまり、積み荷、発送品、という意味もあります。
shipping は、何かを送るのにかかる費用、つまり、送料を意味することもあります。
- The government is banning shipment of chicken and egg products pending investigation into the safety of the nation's poultry farms.
- It'll take 2 to 3 days to prepare the order for shipping.
- Shipping is free with orders over $30.
- I'm just calling to let you know that the shipment left our warehouse this morning. It should arrive sometime on Thursday.
- If you have the tracking number, you should be able to track (= follow the movement of) the shipment on their Web site.
