APOLOGY   謝罪
Explanation
To apologize is to say that you are sorry for something you, or someone connected to you, did wrong.

The noun form is apology.
apologize は、自分や自分と関係のある人がした間違った行為に対して、申し訳ないという気持ちを述べる、つまり、謝罪する、という意味です。

名詞形は apology で、謝罪、という意味です。

1 I was wrong not to trust you. I apologize.

a:  Do you think I should apologize to him?
b:  Of course, you should. You embarrassed him in front of the entire staff.
3 I want to apologize for what I said.
4 (notice on a Web site)
This site will be down for maintenance until 6 a.m., November 19th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

6 (lawyer at a press conference)
The company owes its minority employees a public apology for years of racial discrimination.
7 (company spokesperson)
