Welcome back from the weekend!
There are certain expressions that, when used naturally and with confidence, can make you sound like you've spent years in the States. We've got four of them for you this week, so get ready to impress your friends and co-workers with some "real" English!
DO LUNCH 昼食を共にする
- To do lunch with someone is to have lunch with them.
- do lunch とは、誰かと一緒に昼食を取る、という意味です。
- (after running into each other at the station)
a: It was good to see you.
b: Yes, it was good to see you, too. We should do lunch sometime. - a: Do you want to get something to eat?
b: Sorry, but I'm doing lunch with a client today. - We all did lunch at the Berlitz Bistro to celebrate Jake's promotion.
Let's do this again tomorrow, OK?
