FRUIT 果物Fruit is the general word for food such as apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, and watermelons. Fruit is normally used as an uncountable noun, with NO "-s" at the end; for example, "Fruit is cheap in California." (Be careful: We sometimes use the word fruits -- WITH an "-s" -- to talk about KINDS of fruit; for example, "His shop sells many fruits and vegetables.") His shop sells many fruits and vegetables.(彼の店ではいろいろな種類の果物や野菜を売っています) 1. Do you ever put fruit on your cereal in the morning? 2. Many families in Japan have fruit after dinner instead of a rich dessert. |
