CALL (= phone)　　電話をする

To call someone is to contact them by phone.

(Be careful: We do NOT say, "call TO someone".)

call someoneは、誰かに電話をするという意味です。

注意：　call TO someoneという言い方はしません。

1. Quick! Call the police! Someone's trying to steal the car across
   the street.

2. (on the phone)

   I'm with a customer right now. Can I call you back later?

3. I've been trying to call you since nine, but your line's always
   busy.

4. Here's my card. Call me if you ever need financial advice.

5. (returning to the office)

   a: Did anyone call while I was out?

   b: Yes, Peter Hampton called. He wants you to call him at his
      home.
