Explanation

  • When you arrive at school after the time classes are scheduled to begin, you are "late FOR school". We also say "late for work/the meeting/etc."

    If you don't come at all that day, then you are "absent FROM school/work/etc."
  • 始業時間に遅れて学校に到着することを late FOR school と言います。 late for work/the meeting/etc. とも言います。

    欠席/欠勤することを、absent FROM school/work/etc. と言います。

  1. Hurry up and eat your breakfast, or you'll be late for school.
