  • A species is a group of animals or plants that have similar characteristics.

    Be careful:
    The singular and plural forms of species are the same.
  • species  は、生物を似た性質を持つ物同士で分類する際の、基本単位のひとつです。

    単数形と複数形が同じで、両方とも species  です。


  1. An animal can only breed with another animal of the same species .
  2. a: Do you know what species of bird that is?
    b: I think it's a kingfisher(カワセミ).
  3. Did you see the news yesterday? They've discovered two new species of frog in the Amazon jungle.
  4. The short-tailed albatross(アホウドリ)is a protected species both in Japan and the United States.
  5. The Iriomote wildcat(イリオモテヤマネコ)is a rare species of cat found only on Iriomote Island.
