CHEAT   カンニングをする、ずるをする

Explanation

  • To cheat on a test, on homework, in a game, etc. is to do something unfair in order to get a better result.

    Be careful:
    We do NOT use the word "cunning" like the Japanese カンニング to mean cheat or cheating.
  • cheat on a test や cheat on homework、cheat  in a game は、テスト、宿題、ゲームなどで、より良い結果を得るために不正をする、という意味です。

    注意:
    英語の cunning には、日本語の「カンニング」の意味はありません。

examples

  1. Laura was caught cheating on her Spanish exam. She was copying answers from someone else's paper.
  2. (a teacher to her students)
    Anyone found cheating on this test will be given a failing grade.
  3. The Internet has made it much easier to cheat on homework assignments.
  4. a: I win! 
    b: You cheated!
    a: I did not. I won fair and square. (= I won fairly)
  5. (one player to another during a soccer game)
    You can't use your hands - that's cheating!
