Explanation

  • A time zone  is one of the 24 regions running north to south into which the world is divided and in which the time is one hour later than the next region to the west.
  • time zone  は、地球を北南の縦割りで24に分けた地域のことです。西から東に１地域進むと、標準時も１時間進んだ時間になります。

examples

  1. The time zone  for Japan is two hours ahead of Bangkok, but one hour behind Sydney.  
  2. It's confusing when I have to set up a time to call someone in a different time zone.
  3. When you fly from New York to Los Angeles, you cross four time zones!
  4. In large countries with many time zones, such as Canada and Russia, TV programs broadcast live nationally are on earlier or later in the day depending on the time zone.
