Hello again!
Do you remember what happened yesterday at Ms. Watanabe's office? Today we hear about the exciting climax!
(HAVE/GIVE/GET) A MESSAGE
- Imagine the following situation:
Alan calls Ms. Watanabe while she is out of the office, so he leaves a message for Ms. Watanabe with her secretary.
After Alan leaves the message, we can say that Ms. Watanabe has a message FROM Alan.
Later, when the secretary gives Ms. Watanabe the information from Alan, she gives the message TO Ms. Watanabe...
...and Ms. Watanabe gets the message.
Ms. Watanabe has a message FROM Alan.
The secretary gives the message TO Ms. Watanabe ...
... Ms. Watanabe gets the message.
- (on the phone)
SECRETARY: I'm sorry, but Ms. Watanabe is out of the office right now.
ALAN: Can you give her a message for me?
SECRETARY: Of course. - (... and the conversation continues)
ALAN: Please tell her that I won't be able to make my afternoon appointment.
SECRETARY: Alright. I'll be sure to give her your message. - (after Ms. Watanabe returns to the office)
MS. WATANABE: Do I have any messages?
SECRETARY: Alan called. He said he won't be able to make his afternoon appointment. - (on the phone)
MS. WATANABE: Alan, I got your message. Shall we reschedule our meeting for tomorrow?
Okay, so it wasn't exactly an EXCITING climax, but you learned something, right?
