Explanation

  • The flat place next to the tracks where you wait for a train is called the platform.

    Be Careful! In English, there is no short form of the word platform similar to the Japanese「ホーム」.
  • platform は、電車を待つためにある線路の横にある平らな場所、つまり、駅のホームのことです。

    注意:英語では、日本語の「ホーム」のように、platform という言葉を短縮することはできません。

examples

  1. The trains were running late, so it was more crowded on the platform than usual.
  2. The train to Boston will be leaving from Platform 8.
  3. I'll meet you at the Shinjuku end of the platform at 7:30.
