Here's a tip: If you aren't lucky enough to get a ticket to your favorite sports event but would still like to experience the excitement of watching it in a crowd of screaming spectators, try visiting a sports bar. It's the next best thing to being in the stadium!

Now, here's your Wednesday WordMaster!

Today's Lesson
FAN   ファン

  • When talking about sports, a fan is a person who admires or supports a player or team, or one who likes the sport itself. A person can also be a fan of an artist, a celebrity, an art form (such as a genre of music, movies, or books), etc.

  1. (a young boy talking to his friend)
Someday I'm going to be a famous professional soccer player and have millions of fans.
  2. Some fans at the game got drunk and started dancing on the field during half-time.
  3. Science fiction fans are all excited about the new “Star Battles” movie that's opening next week.
  4. (to a pop singer)
I'm a really big fan of yours. Could I have your autograph?
