Hello! Today, we bring you a “classic” edition from the WordMaster archives - literally!
Enjoy!
CLASSIC vs. CLASSICAL
- A classic is a piece of music, a book, a film, etc. that has been considered important and one of the best of its kind for a long time.
Classical music is the kind that people like Mozart and Tchaikovsky wrote.
Be Careful! The English expression for クラシック音楽 is “classical music”, not “classic music”.
- There's a theater in my neighborhood that only shows classic films, like “Casablanca” and “Gone With the Wind”.
- “Ukigumo” is a classic of Japanese literature.
- (listening to a pop song on the radio)
I love this song! It's a classic. - a: What kind of music do you listen to?
b: Mostly jazz and classical. - Beethoven's 6th Symphony is my wife's favorite piece of classical music.
Cheers!
