Hello! How have you been enjoying the autumn days of 2005? This week we'll be looking at the many names we give to the days of the week and the parts of the day. And, as always, we'll be taking it one day at a time - and one WordMaster at a time!

Today's LessonCATEGORY:
WEEKDAY / WEEKNIGHT

Explanation

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are called weekdays.

Weekday nights are usually called weeknights.

Be Careful! There are no one-word expressions like weeknight for weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings. We do NOT say "weekmorning", etc.

    * See the 4 July 2005 WordMaster, “HOLIDAY vs. WEEKEND”.
