In business and finance, as in so many aspects of life, it's best not to put all your eggs in one basket!
- To diversify is to increase the variety of something. For a company to diversify means that it increases the variety of goods and services it offers. For an individual to diversify is to invest in stocks, bonds, etc. from a number of different companies, industries, geographical regions, etc. in order to reduce overall investment risk.
- Demand is falling for our products. I think that if we want to remain successful, we're going to have to diversify.
- Since cigarette advertising is prohibited in much of the world, some tobacco companies have diversified into clothing as a way to maintain brand awareness.
- My broker recommended that I diversify my stock holdings by buying stock in overseas companies.
Much success to you today!
