Got the urge to travel to exotic lands? Then here's a word you'll most certainly want to take along!
OVERSEAS 海外(の,に)
- Overseas means in or to a country that you must cross a sea or ocean to reach.
Be Careful! We do NOT say “IN overseas”, “TO overseas”, etc. - overseas は、海や海洋を越えなければ行けない国、つまり、海外、という意味です。
注意:in や to をつけて、“IN overseas”、“TO overseas” のようには言いません。
- I've traveled all over this country, but I've still never been overseas.
- My father always tells me that going overseas is the best education you can get.
- Atsushi is being transferred overseas next year. He'll be in charge of the Bangkok office.
- Many of our students are studying English because they want to live and work overseas.
