Today's LessonCATEGORY:
SAY HELLO FOR ME / GIVE MY BEST (WISHES)

Explanation

  • If you tell someone to say hello for me or to give my best or give my best wishes to a person who is not present, you want them to give that person your greetings.

What typically happens is that, the next time they communicate with that person, they will tell the person that you say hello or you send your best wishes (= you hope the person is well, will have good luck, etc.).
  • 誰かに、say hello for me あるいは、give my best (to a person)give my best wishes (to a person) などと言うと、その場にいない人に挨拶を伝えてほしい、という意味になります。
