DRIVE   駆り立てる

Explanation

  • To drive something or someone is to provide them with power or motivation to do something.

    A person or organization has drive or is driven if they have a strong desire to accomplish something and are working hard to do it.
  • drive は、人やものに何かをする力を与える、あるいは、やる気を起こさせる、という意味です。

    has drive や be driven というと、人や組織が何かを達成することを強く希望し、そのために懸命に努力している、という意味になります。

  1. (speaking at a convention of small-business owners)
    It's small business that drives this country's economic growth!
  2. A surge in consumer confidence will usually drive retail profits up.
  3. Our company is driven by a passion for service and excellence.
