Hi! We've got plenty of useful English on tap today, so pour yourself a pint and enjoy!
FAUCET 蛇口
- The word faucet is commonly used to talk about a device that controls the flow of water from a pipe, such as a pipe that supplies water to a sink or bathtub.
Be Careful! The Japanese word カラン comes from the Dutch word “kraan”, which is NOT used in English to mean faucet.
- The faucet in the restroom turns on automatically when you put your hands under it.
- Be sure you turn the faucet off completely when you're done. It tends to drip.
- (a mother to her child)
Don't leave the faucet running while you brush your teeth, dear. It wastes water. - I'm going to call a plumber to see if he can fix that leaky faucet.
- We installed a new faucet in the kitchen sink. It really makes doing dishes a pleasure now.
