ICE vs. ICE CREAM 氷 vs. アイスクリーム

Ice is frozen water.

Ice cream is a frozen dessert usually made from milk or cream, eggs, sugar, and other flavors, such as vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry.

Be Careful! In American English, the word ice is NOT used like the Japanese アイス to mean ice cream.
ice は、水が凍ったもの、つまり、氷のことです。

ice cream は、たいてい、牛乳やクリーム、卵、砂糖に、バニラやチョコレート、イチゴなどの風味を加えて作った冷凍のデザートです。

注意：アメリカ英語では ice を、日本語の「アイス」のように ice cream の意味で使われることはありません。
