Explanation

  • (For an employee) to resign is to leave a job because he or she CHOOSES to.

    (For an employer) to fire someone is to MAKE someone leave their job.
  • 従業員が自分の意志で仕事を辞めることを resign と言います。

    雇用者が社員を辞めさせることを fire と言います。

  1. Did you hear that Jack is resigning? He's planning to start his own business.
  2. My doctor told me I should resign from the company. He thinks I need to find a less stressful job.
