Explanation

  • To park a car or other vehicle is to leave it somewhere for a period of time.
  • park は、車やその他の乗り物をどこかにしばらくの間停めておく、つまり、駐車する、という意味です。

examples

  1. (customer to restaurant hostess)
    a: Is it alright to park my car in the street?
    b: No, they'll tow it away if you do.
  2. (hotel guest to front desk clerk)
    a: Where can I park?
    b: Just leave the keys in the vehicle. Our valet will park it for you.
  3. (in front of an airport terminal)
    You can't park here. This area is for loading and unloading only.
  4. A red sports car was parked in front of the bank when the robbery took place.
  5. (in a shopping-mall parking lot)
    Oh no! I can't remember where I parked!
