Greetings!

We've set aside all this week to discuss one of the 4 Ps of marketing, “price”, in greater detail. When pricing an item, a company must carefully consider the target demographic, profit margin, product image, etc. Part science, part art, pricing is most certainly of key importance in any marketing strategy. So this week, we give it its due!

Today's Lesson
LIST PRICE   定価

Explanation

  • The list price of a product is the price the manufacturer suggests that retailers sell it for.
  • list price とは、ある商品を小売店が販売するときの価格として、製造者が提案する値段、つまり、定価のことです。

LIST PRICE

examples

  1. The list price for this fax machine is $250, but I've seen it advertised for as low as $190.
  2. I got these hiking boots at 40 percent off the list price.
  3. I live off the royalties on my book. They pay me 12% of the list price for every book sold.
