2007.12.18(Review of 2006.01.31 edition)
Many people begin drafting a talk by listing up their ideas in bullet form. And here's what we call those bullets!
(MAIN) POINT (重要な)論点
- A point is an idea, opinion, or fact in a speech, written text, discussion, etc.
A main point is one of the most important points. - point とは、話や文章、議論などに含まれる考えや意見、事実、つまり、論点のことです。
main point は、重要な論点、という意味です。
- I have a question about the first point in your proposal.
- In his talk at the symposium, Dr. Ridges made an interesting point about recent changes in corporate tax law.
- Did you read the college newsletter? The editor made some good points about the need to reduce the amount of homework given to students.
- The committee examined your proposal point by point, and they were very impressed.
- (giving a presentation)
This first slide lists the main points of my talk. - It's enough for you to understand the main points. Don't bother about the details.
All the best today, to you and to those you love!
