FIELD vs. PLAYGROUND vs. SCHOOL GROUND

Explanation

  • When talking about sports, a field is an open, usually grassy area used for a sport.

A playground is an outdoor area meant for children to play in, especially one that has swings, slides, basketball hoops, etc.

A school ground is the land that surrounds and belongs to a school.

Be Careful! In the United States, it's more common to use the word field than “ground” (like the Japanese グラウンド) to talk about an area for playing sports such as baseball, (American) football, and soccer.
