We end this week by looking at a trait that Santa considers the “nicest” of all. After all, who's more generous than Santa himself?
GENEROUS 気前の良い/豊富な、たくさんの
- A generous person is willing to give money, time, etc., (especially more than is usual) to help others.
Something - for example, a gift of money - is generous if it's more than expected or the amount is large. - 人について generous と言うと、特に他者を助けるために、いつも以上にお金や時間などを使うこと、つまり、気前の良い、という意味です。
例えば贈り物やお金など、物について generous と言うと、何かが予想以上だったり、量が多い、という意味になります。
- I've never met a more generous person. He'd give you the shirt off his back if you asked for it.
- My doctor is always very generous with his time and is willing to answer any questions I have.
- It's very generous of you to offer to help, but I think I can do it myself.
- (apple pie recipe)
Bake in a 200-degree oven for 40 minutes. Slice and serve with a generous amount of vanilla ice cream. - (on a restaurant menu)
All our burgers come with a generous portion of fries. - How could you say no to such a generous offer?
Be good this weekend!
