Explanation

  • A generous person is willing to give money, time, etc., (especially more than is usual) to help others.

    Something - for example, a gift of money - is generous if it's more than expected or the amount is large.
  • 人について generous と言うと、特に他者を助けるために、いつも以上にお金や時間などを使うこと、つまり、気前の良い、という意味です。

    例えば贈り物やお金など、物について generous と言うと、何かが予想以上だったり、量が多い、という意味になります。
